By Michelle Brown
We are proud and humbled to share that Alpha House was named 2025 Social Housing Provider of the Year at this year’s Calgary Residential Rental Association (CRRA) Awards Gala on June 5. Our team is very grateful for this recognition that reflects the dedication of our team and our commitment to supporting individuals in our community with dignity and care.
This honour belongs to the entire Alpha House team — our front-line workers, case managers, support staff, leadership, and everyone behind the scenes who continue to go above and beyond every day. It is also a tribute to the trust and partnerships we have built with landlords, housing providers, and community partners who believe in the power of supportive, stable housing.
Kathy Christiansen, our Executive Director shared, “This award is a true honour for our team. It recognizes the passion and perseverance that drives our work every day to help people access and maintain housing with the support they need to thrive. Thank you to the CRRA for championing the rental housing sector in Calgary and for recognizing the role supportive housing plays in creating healthier communities.”
Our team had a fantastic time at the event celebrating together, meeting fellow CRRA members, and connecting with so many incredible individuals who are working to improve housing in Calgary.
We were very proud to see our nominee, Avenue Living, recognized as 2025 Large Landlord of the Year. Avenue Living has been an invaluable partner to Alpha House through our Community Housing Program, which supports individuals experiencing homelessness, substance dependencies, and mental health challenges. Their team consistently demonstrates professionalism, responsiveness, and a deep understanding of the unique needs of the population we serve.
Their willingness to engage in ongoing education and work alongside Alpha House to better support tenants has made them essential allies in our shared goal of creating stable, supportive housing. We’re thrilled to celebrate their well-deserved award and the impact they continue to make.
We also extend our congratulations to all the nominees and winners who are raising the bar in Calgary’s rental housing community.
Thank you to the CRRA team for bringing us together for a wonderful evening and for highlighting the important and innovative work happening across Calgary!
